The Headmistress of Ghana Senior High School (GHANASS) in Koforidua, Patience Naki Mensah, has been interdicted by the Ghana Education Service (GES) on allegations of selling unauthorized items to Form One students.

According to a letter addressed to Mrs. Mensah by the Eastern Regional Director of Education, Mrs. Ivy Asantewaa Owusu, on Thursday, December 7, 2023, the unauthorized items in question include ceremonial cloth and tracksuits.

Mrs. Mensah has been directed to step aside pending further investigation into the allegations.

This development adds to a growing list of headteachers who have faced similar interdictions for purportedly charging unapproved fees since the initiation of the Free SHS policy.

The interdiction comes as part of the GES’s efforts to maintain transparency and adherence to policies within the educational system.
