A police officer stationed at at the Takoradi District Police Command, General Corporal Wise Bessey has been interdicted for allegedly assaulting a civilian.
The interdiction is to allow for a thorough investigation into the incident and the professional conduct of the police officer in line with Police Service Regulations.
A statement issued by the Ghana Police Service on Friday (2 February) said the Inspector General of Police has assured of thorough investigation after speaking with the victim.
“The Ghana Police Service has interdicted a police officer, № 49187 General Corporal Wise Bessey, stationed at the Takoradi District Police Command, for an alleged assault on a member of the public in Takoradi in the Western Region.”
“The victim has been contacted by the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare and, the IGP has assured him of the needed Police assistance and a thorough investigation into the incident. We would like to assure the general public that the Police will continue to ensure that professionalism is maintained at all times in the discharge of our mandate,” the police statement said.
