Wontumi, NAPO feud finally resolved?

01 Jul

There appears to be a new path charted by the New Patriotic Party(NPP) in resolving a long-standing feud between Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako known widely as Chairman Wontuim and Energy Minister, Dr Mathew Opoku Prempeh.

It is an open secret that both have not been on good terms over what is not known publicly with sections suggesting it may have been fallouts from the Regional NPP Executive Elections.

The situation reportedly heightened during a meeting earlier this year during the vetting of Parliamentary Candidates which landed at Manhyia following the invoking of curses among others.

Sources have gathered that Wontumi took an entrenched position that it would be over his dead body will he allow the Manhyia South legislator to become running mate to Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

Though it has not been officially confirmed, MyNewsGh.com gathers from Deep-throat sources that NAPO is likely to partner Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for the 2024 polls. Given this, efforts have been made to build bridges and iron out differences in the Ashanti Region which is the stronghold of the NPP.

Because of this, a meeting was convened at the instance of the NPP flagbearer for both NAPO and Wontumi to settle their differences and forge ahead in unity in the interest of the party. It is gathered that both agreed to put the past behind them and work together in the interest of the NPP.

A source revealed that Wontumi will play a key role in NAPO’s campaign to showcase that the past has been buried behind them.
