West Ham star Mohammed Kudus issues grovelling apology and asks for help

17 Oct

Many West Ham fans were critical of the manager over the incident.

And there has been a feeling Kudus’ struggles are down to being played out of position on the left under the new boss.

The Hammers ace was named captain of Ghana for their double header with Sudan in AFCON qualifying over the break.

Despite his best efforts back in January, Ghana – one of the pre-tournament favourites – were dumped out in the group stages of AFCON.

Now they won’t even be at the next one after drawing and losing the matches against Sudan.

The results prompted a backlash from the country’s passionate fans.

Some even claimed Kudus – who missed some gilt-edged chances over the two games – has been cursed after being handed the number 10 shirt.

West Ham fans have been understandably worried about their star player.

Especially ahead of a crucial run of games starting at Tottenham this weekend.

And fears he is feeling the weight of the world on his shoulders have been realised.

Because West Ham star Kudus has now issued a grovelling apology and asked for help.

‘Determined to make you proud’

The Hammers ace took to social media overnight to say sorry to Ghana fans for his form and that of the team.

Kudus has also pleaded with supporters to stick by them.

In a lengthy post titled ‘apology and assurance’, Kudus has vowed they will redeem themselves.

“As someone who captained the team in the two games, it is with great humility and a deep sense of responsibility that issue this statement,” Kudus said.

“On behalf of the entire team, I would like to extend our sincerest apologies to the people of Ghana for our recent performances against Sudan in Accra and Libya.

“We want to assure Ghanaians that we are committed to learning from our mistakes, regrouping, and working tirelessly to restore the Black Stars to our former glory.

“We value the unwavering support and loyalty you’ve shown us, and we’re determined to make you proud once again.

“Despite our utmost effort and dedication, the results did not reflect our aspirations or the pride we have in representing our beloved nation. We understand the disappointment and frustration this has caused, and we share those feelings.

“We urge all fans to stand by us during this challenging period. Your encouragement and faith in us will fuel our determination to succeed. We will not give up. We look forward to redeeming ourselves in the
upcoming matches.”
