Former Member of Parliament for Subin, Eugene Boakye Antwi has questioned the role of the National Chairman, General Secretary, and National Organizer of the New Patriotic Party in the 2024 elections.
According to him, these individuals were not assigned any roles as executives of the political party.
He noted that this is a major worrying feature of the structures in the NPP that needs to be addressed as the party researches why it lost the 2024 election.
To Eugene Boakye Antwi, it is about time flagbearers who become president are made aware that they do not wield absolute power and that it is a partnership between them and their political parties.
He noted that it is when there is a synergy, and the flagbearer, who will later become president, will give a listening ear to the political party on matters of importance.
“We have a national chairman, general secretary, and national organizer, but what were their roles in the campaign? Is it not the interest of the political party that these executives represent? So what were their roles in the campaign?
When we choose a flagbearer, he forms his campaign team and forgets about the executives, which should not be the case. In this country, when someone is elected as president, you cannot talk to them or about them. They give jobs, among others so no one wants to offend them and that is bad,” he said on Accra-based OKAY FM.
