Dr Omane Boamah, Director of Elections for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has once again strongly criticised the Electoral Commission (EC) for failing to provide political parties with copies of the provisional voter’s register ahead of the voter exhibition exercise.
His comments follow the EC’s failure to provide the register to political parties after instructing them to collect it on Wednesday, August 14. The EC had requested external drives from political parties in July to facilitate the transfer of the register.
However, NDC executives were turned away when they visited the EC’s office on the stipulated date and again on Friday, August 16.
In a Facebook post, Dr Omane Boamah warned that the EC would not be allowed to rush the upcoming 2024 elections, declaring the party’s intention to demonstrate and organize public forums against the EC
“The EC will not be allowed to stampede us into the elections. Every lost moment will be reclaimed at their expense, as the elections will not be postponed! EC, Release the Provisional Voter Register Now!.”
At a recent campaign event on Friday, August 16, at Sogakope, the NDC flagbearer John Dramani Mahama also called on the EC to release the provisional voter register.
He advised party members to ensure they visit the various polling stations to verify their names during the voter register exhibition.
“In four [three] days, the EC will begin the exhibition of the voter register, everybody who registered please take a few minutes to go and and check and make sure your name is in the register. Because on December 7, we don’t want you to go to the polling station and they will say your name is not in the register. So, please take a few minutes and go and check your name.
“I want to draw the attention of the EC, in July, they asked all political parties to bring their hard drives so that they could give us a copy of the provisional voter register. The exhibition starts in four [three] days, we should have received the provisional voter register by now. So that we can help our members to check if their names are there.
“They have asked us to come for the hard drives for the provisional register. I’m calling on the EC to make sure that we get the hard drives of the provisional voter register so that we can send them to the constituencies. And let our executives start helping our people to check their names, and make sure their names are there.”
The EC is scheduled to commence the Voters Exhibition Exercise on August 20, 2024, and end on August 27, 2024.
The Electoral Commission (EC) has urged all citizens to participate in the Voter Exhibition Exercise to verify that their details are accurately recorded and to confirm their eligibility to vote in the upcoming elections.

YESTERDAY, FRIDAY, August 16, 2024
The flag bearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has called out the Electoral Commission for failing to provide political parties with copies of the provisional voters register ahead of the Commission’s voter exhibition exercise.
Speaking at a campaign event in Sogakope on Friday, Mr Mahama said the Commission asked the parties to submit their external drives for the register in July but has since failed to make it available.
As of the close of the day, Friday, political parties have yet to receive the provisional voters register, and the Commission has refused to provide viable reasons for the delay.
TODAY, SATURDAY, August 17, 2024 – Dr Omane Boamah
Me: Let it be known that with only three days to the EXHIBITION of the Provisional Voter Register, the Electoral Commission has still not released the register to the NDC.
The EC will not be allowed to stampede us into the elections. Every time lost will be reclaimed at their expense because the elections will not be postponed!
Recall it’s this same EC that wanted to hold the elections in November but for our stiff opposition based on facts. How were they thinking?
As for how prepared they would have been and how chaotic the processes leading up to the aborted November elections would have been, we would leave that to your imagination.
EC, Release the Provisional Voter Register Now!
