Ghanaian media personality Kwame Djokoto has publicly criticized Captain Smart, a well-known journalist and host, for alleged personal attacks and criminal behavior. In a recent interview, Djokoto, who identifies as a staunch supporter of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), expressed his frustration after hearing that Captain Smart had made derogatory comments about him on television.

According to Djokoto, the issue began when friends and family members informed him of insults directed his way by Captain Smart, who allegedly claimed that Djokoto’s career was “dead.” In response, Djokoto warned Captain Smart, emphasizing that he values respect and factual discussions over personal attacks. “Last week, I had some calls from loved ones saying that Captain Smart is insulting me, saying my career is dead and all that. They should send this warning to him for me—that I work with respect. He insulted me, but I don’t want to mind him,” Djokoto stated firmly.

Djokoto then made allegations about Captain Smart’s past, claiming that while Smart was working at Fox FM in Kumasi, he had a history of criminal cases. Djokoto even suggested that if anyone were to check the police records from that time, they would find evidence supporting his claim. “When you were working at Fox FM in Kumasi, we should go and check the police reports that were written about you, Captain—it was full of criminal cases. Have you heard of any criminal case about me before?” he challenged.

Djokoto went on to assert his support for the NDC, claiming that the party is superior to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) when it comes to developing Ghana. “When it comes to developing Ghana, NDC is far better than NPP,” he insisted. Additionally, he expressed surprise and disappointment that Media General, one of Ghana’s prominent media houses, would employ Captain Smart, given his alleged criminal background. “I’m even surprised that Media General has employed this criminal to work with. If you are employing someone to work with, don’t you check the background?”

The remarks have sparked a new wave of political and personal tensions in the Ghanaian media space, bringing to light issues of integrity and accountability among media figures. As the conversation around these allegations unfolds, it remains to be seen how both parties will respond to the controversy.
