Spanish striker Borja Iglesias has quit the national team in protest against Spanish FA chief Luis Rubiales after he refused to resign from his post.
Rubiales has been heavily criticised after he kissed Spain star Jenni Hermoso on the lips after their 1-0 win over England in the Women’s World Cup final.
The Spaniard then refused to resign, leading to backlash from several Spain stars, including Iglesias.

‘For a fairer, more humane and decent football.’
Iglesias continued to reveal his emotions after hearing Rubiales refuse to retire.
‘I am sad and disappointed,’ he continued. ‘As a footballer and as a person I don’t feel represented by what happened today in the Ciudad del Fútbol de Las Rozas.
‘I find it unfortunate that they continue to press and focus on a colleague.’
Iglesias was joined by fellow Spain star David de Gea in his criticism for Rubiales, while the likes of Iker Casillas also joined in.
The forward made his last appearance for Spain in the UEFA Nations League against Portugal in September last year, but has now opted to retire from the national side.
It remains to be seen as to whether Iglesias would change his mind if Rubiales leaves his post.
