Amidst gunfire, one soldier has been apprehended while three others remain at large following an attempted robbery at a mining site near Kwabenakwa-Obuasi.
The Obuasi East Patrol Team received a distress call around 7:30 pm yesterday, reporting an intrusion at a mining concession by four individuals dressed in military attire.
Armed with weapons including a pump-action gun and knives, they attempted to intimidate workers and extort money. However, their plans were thwarted when civilians intervened, capturing one of the soldiers identified as L/Cpl. Opoku Eric.
During interrogation, Eric disclosed details of the operation, implicating one Musa Jafa from the Tema Naval Base, who is currently on the run.
An investigation is still ongoing.
