Shadow of uncertainty hangs over Dede Ayew’s future with the Black Stars

A shadow of uncertainty hangs over Dede Ayew’s future with the Black Stars after reports reaching HappySports suggesting the veteran attacker has been omitted from Coach Otto Addo’s squad for the upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Mali and the Central African Republic.

While the official announcement is still awaited, sources close to the team have hinted at a significant shake-up, with Ayew’s exclusion marking the potential end of an era. Having captained the Black Stars since 2019, Ayew has been a mainstay in the national team for over a decade.

His exclusion according to a reliable source disclosed that, Dede was informed by Otto Addo, after assuming his role as Black Stars coach about a month ago of not being included in his plans.

However, with Ghana entering a new chapter under Coach Addo, it seems the focus might be shifting towards a younger generation of players.

The official announcement of the squad is expected today, May 29 and all eyes will be on Coach Addo’s explanation for Ayew’s absence.
