Media General, the proprietors of Onua FM, have confirmed that they suspended the controversial host of Onua Maakye, Captain Smart following his attacks on NPP running mate, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh.
This action follows a series of unprofessional utterances made by Captain Smart on both radio and television, particularly targeting Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the running mate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
The suspension came amid widespread criticism from various quarters, including the Ghana Journalists Association, which condemned Captain Smart’s description of NPP leaders as “animals.” This incident has added to Captain Smart’s growing reputation for making unprofessional remarks, often directed at the ruling NPP. It is noteworthy that Captain Smart’s previous job at Angel FM was allegedly terminated due to NPP influence, which may have contributed to his contentious stance against the party.
Paul Adom Otchere, the host of Good Evening Ghana on Metro TV, confirmed the suspension after speaking with Mr. Kojo Yankah, the Board Chairman of Media General.
