Police, Military retrieve weapons in Nkwanta South

In a concerted effort to restore peace in the NKwanta South Municipality of the Oti Region, joint police and military operation has led to the retrieval of firearms, cartridges, knives, and other weapons linked to the ongoing conflict.

The operation, which began on Saturday, January 18, 2025, aims to address the escalating violence that has plagued the area and to ensure the safety of residents.

So far, 16 individuals have been been arrested in connection with the conflict, as authorities intensify their crackdown on illegal arms possession and related criminal activities.

The joint task force has been deployed to key hotspots identified as conflict zones, where tensions have been running high.

Meanwhile, some residents have expressed gratitude for the swift action taken by the police and the military, emphasizing the importance of collaboration in tackling security challenges.
