According to CITI FM today Sunday, Police in Accra have exhumed a body they suspect belongs to a businessman who was reported missing on November 30, 2024.
The exhumation was carried out on December 12, following leads from an ongoing investigation.
The businessman, whose name is being withheld for investigative reasons, was a well-known figure in the city. His disappearance last month left family members and friends in distress.
According to his wife,
“We have been living in fear and praying for his safe return. This news is heartbreaking.”
The police received a tip about a shallow grave on the outskirts of Accra.
Upon arrival at the location, officers secured the area and initiated the exhumation. Deputy Police Commander Kwame Mensah spoke to the media:
“We acted on credible information and found a body that matches the description of the missing individual. We cannot confirm his identity until a thorough forensic examination is conducted.”
Eyewitnesses at the scene expressed shock and disbelief. One local resident said,
“I never imagined something like this would happen here. It’s scary.”
The family of the missing man has been informed of the discovery and is awaiting official confirmation from authorities.
A close relative shared,
“We’re devastated. We need answers and justice for what has happened.”
The police have intensified their investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the businessman’s disappearance and suspected death.
Officers have indicated that foul play is highly suspected. Commander Mensah added:
“We are questioning individuals connected to the case. This is a tragic situation, and we are committed to uncovering the truth.”
The body has been taken to the Accra Regional Hospital for an autopsy to confirm the cause of death and establish the identity conclusively.
Police have urged the public to come forward with any information that may assist in the investigation.
The businessman’s disappearance and the discovery of the body have left the community in shock.
Residents are calling for swift justice and better security measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
