Panic as Kids Unearth Hidden Firearms in Ashaiman

09 Mar

Saturday morning, residents of Ashaiman Constituency in the Greater Accra Region were left in shock after five firearms were discovered hidden by the roadside early this morning.

The discovery, made by a group of young boys playing near the area, has caused fear and uncertainty among locals, who are worried about their safety.

According to eyewitnesses, the boys were digging in the sand when they uncovered a suspicious sack.

Out of curiosity, they opened it and were shocked to find the guns.

“We were just playing when we saw a black bag buried under the sand. When we opened it, we saw the guns and ran to tell the elders,” said one of the boys.

The community quickly alerted the Ashaiman Police, who arrived at the scene within minutes.

Upon inspection, officers confirmed that the sack contained five guns, including three pistols and two pump-action shotguns.

The police have since taken the firearms for further investigation.

Speaking to journalists at the scene, Inspector Daniel Mensah of the Ashaiman Police Command said,

“We have retrieved the weapons and launched a full investigation. We are working to find out who hid these guns here and for what purpose. We urge residents to remain calm and report any suspicious activity.”

The discovery has sparked fear among residents, with many expressing concerns about rising insecurity in the area.

“We don’t know what these guns were meant for. Is someone planning an attack? We are scared for our children and our community,” said Madam Akua Serwaa, a worried mother of three.

Community leaders have also voiced their concerns. Mr. Kwame Asare, a local opinion leader, called for increased police patrols in the area.

“This is a peaceful community, and we cannot allow criminals to disrupt our peace. We need more police presence to assure residents of their safety,” he said.

The police have promised to intensify patrols and collaborate with community members to gather more information. Inspector Mensah urged residents to be vigilant and cooperate with law enforcement.

“Security is everyone’s responsibility. If you see something unusual, speak up. Together, we can keep Ashaiman safe,” he added.
