Otto Addo raises injury concerns ahead of CAR game

Otto Addo has hinted at possible fitness issues concerning the Black Stars as they prepare to square off with the Central African Republic (CAR) on Monday.

In their fourth 2026 World Cup qualifier, the two sides will face off at the Baba Yara Stadium as they aim to record back-to-back victories.

CAR are fresh off from a crucial narrow win over Chad last week and are looking to climb higher up the table with a victory over the Black Stars. The hosts are similar in confidence having secured a comeback win over Mali on Thursday.

However, Ghana may have to tweak their preparations following the fitness of certain players as revealed by coach Otto Addo.

“We had some few injuries but it seems like everybody will train fully today and I’m sure everyone will be ready for tomorrow,” he stated ahead of the game.

The former Dortmund talent coach is also counting on home support to secure a needed victory to further boost the chance of the four-time Africa Cup of Nations champions.

“I was really overwhelmed the last time we came here, to be honest we I didn’t expect that especially looking at our performance in Afcon and yet they cheered us up in numbers, it’s the reason why I love Kumasi fans. I love coming here, we need their support from the star to the end of the game”

Despite the home advantage, Addo emphasises the importance of remaining extra careful in the game.

“One thing is for sure, it’s going to be very difficult game. For everyone who think it’s going to be easy, we hope it goes like that, but it’s really a difficult game. We can’t relax now.”

A win will put Ghana on top of Group I where they currently sit sixth on same points as Madagascar and Comoros.
