According to the story published by JoyNews, a gold dealership shop in the Mankranso community of the Ashanti Region was attacked by armed robbers on the evening of Friday, November 15, 2024, leaving one person dead and several others injured.
According to eyewitness accounts, a group of at least three robbers stormed the shop around 7 p.m. and attempted to rob it. Resistance from people at the scene reportedly escalated the situation, prompting the robbers to fire shots indiscriminately.
Five individuals sustained gunshot wounds during the incident. Among them, a man identified only as Kwame tragically lost his life after being shot in the abdomen. Four others sustained injuries to their chest, arm, and other areas.
The injured victims were initially taken to Mankranso Hospital before being referred to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital for advanced treatment. Two of the victims have since been treated and discharged.
The robbers fled the scene with gold, cash, and other valuables, including items belonging to customers and shop staff.
Police investigations are ongoing to apprehend the suspects and recover the stolen items. Authorities have urged anyone with information to come forward to assist with their inquiries.
