Social media users are urging the Inspector General of the Ghana Police Service (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, to take action against a prominent media personality in Ghana who was involved in a heated confrontation with a police officer.

The incident, which took place at night, escalated when the officer had a tense exchange with the media figure.

The individual in question has been identified as Okatakyie Mensah Afrifa, the current host of “Anopa Bofo” (Angel In the Morning) on Angel TV. While the exact cause of the altercation remains unclear, the video of the incident shows both parties visibly angry.

Okatakyie Afrifa’s response, however, has drawn criticism, as he approached the officer and provocatively offered his hands, telling the officer to handcuff him and take him to jail.

In the video, Okatakyie Afrifa is heard saying, “Here are my hands, bring the handcuffs. I’m ready to go with you. No one can intimidate me in this country. I know my rights, and I will not allow you to oppress me.”

Many Ghanaians believe that Okatakyie Afrifa disrespected the officer while he was in uniform, and are calling for the Ghana Police Service to take serious action against him.

The public hopes that such a response will serve as a warning to others who might disrespect police officers in the future.
