In a dramatic turn of events, prominent Ghanaian journalists Kweku Annan and Kevin Ekow Taylor have alleged that President Nana Akufo-Addo and key members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) are orchestrating a plan to undermine the country’s democratic process.
According to Annan and Taylor, the alleged scheme involves staging a fake coup d’état with the intent of delaying the upcoming presidential election, where recent statistics indicate a strong likelihood of former President John Mahama’s return to power.
The claims were made public through various media channels, where Annan and Taylor detailed what they described as a “ruthless subversion” of Ghana’s democracy.
The journalists argue that the motive behind the alleged fake coup is to create a state of emergency that would justify postponing the election, thus buying the incumbent administration more time to regain political footing.
