The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has charged former Minister of State and Presidential Candidate Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom, who is also the owner of Division One side Elmina Sharks, for bringing the game into disrepute.
A notice issued by the GFA on Monday, February 17 said Dr Nduom allegedly interfered with the progress of the Division One Zone Two game between his club and fellow former Ghana Premier League side Swedru All Blacks on Sunday.
The former Minister of State is said to have entered the inner perimeter and the field of play without authorization to protest a penalty decision by referee Esso Doh Morrison.
The decision led to the referee physically attacked after the game, which ended 1-0 against Elmina Sharks.
Dr Nduom is said to have incited the fans, players and club officials to attack the referee and his assistants.
“Additionally, he is alleged to have used social media commentary to further incite fans and officials of his club against match officials,” the notice further noted.
All these constitute a breach of Articles 34(1)(a), 34(2)(b) and 34(6)(d) of the GFA Division One League Regulations, 2019, and Section 12(4) of the GFA Disciplinary Code, 2019.
He has up to Wednesday, February 19 to respond to the charges.
