NDC-affiliated group reportedly takes control of Atewa Forest

27 Jan

Reports have surfaced about a troubling situation in the Atewa Forest Reserve, particularly in the Kwabeng area, where a group of individuals claiming affiliation with the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) has reportedly seized control of parts of the forest.

Sources indicate that the group is asserting their right to mine in the forest, allegedly citing their party’s position in government as justification.

The individuals have erected a wooden barricade at the site, effectively blocking access to that portion of the forest reserve and restricting entry to others.

Concerns have been raised about the potential environmental and legal implications of such activities, as Atewa Forest is a protected area critical for biodiversity and water resources.
