“MY WIFE WAS MORE CONCERNED ABOUT ME” – Sarkodie Addresses Yvonne Nelson’s Exposé

Ghanaian rap icon Michael Owusu Addo, widely known as Sarkodie, has broken his silence on how his wife, Tracy Owusu-Addo, stood by him following the explosive revelations made by actress Yvonne Nelson in her 2023 memoir, I Am Not Yvonne Nelson. The book detailed their past extramarital affair, which allegedly resulted in a pregnancy and subsequent abortion, with Yvonne accusing Sarkodie of mistreatment and abandonment during that period.

In a candid conversation on the Way Up podcast, shared on X (formerly Twitter) on March 9, 2025, Sarkodie revealed that his wife’s primary concern was his emotional well-being amidst the social media storm.

“To be honest, I don’t want to speak about that, but she handled it in a way I didn’t expect. She was calm and cared more about how I was feeling. She kept asking if I was okay because I was on tour at the time, and that was her main worry—how I was coping,” Sarkodie shared.

The rapper also explained his decision to remain silent on the issue publicly, stating that he only addresses matters that positively impact his career.

“To be honest, the reason I don’t speak is that I don’t think anyone is worth my response. That has always been my stance. If it’s something I can benefit from, I’ll speak out because it’s worth it. But most of the time, the people who talk about Sarkodie aren’t worth my response. When I look at them from top to bottom, I ask myself, ‘Is it worth it to go back and forth with these people?’” he questioned.
