Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie says his “Try Me” response to Yvonne Nelson was leaked.
Speaking in an interview with Angela Yee on the Way Up Show in the U.S., he said he initially recorded the track as a personal reply to Yvonne Nelson’s memoir, “I AM NOT YVONNE NELSON” with the intention of keeping it private.
“I did it just to hold on to it and see if I’m going to release it, but when it came out, I said let me just put it out,” Sarkodie shared.
“Where I was, it was very late, like 2:00 am, and then I saw Twitter going crazy. I had no idea because I didn’t give it to…” Sarkodie said, “So I have like 2, 3 people that I don’t want to suspect because it’s going to create some energy.”
Speaking about why he dropped the song, the rapper said the track was leaked and he had no option but to release it.
“I sneaked into the studio to record it because I didn’t want to hear any advice. So nobody sat down to say this is good to go.” Sarkodie said.
According to the rapper, he was keeping on to the song because he is also not proud of it.
