‘My marriage ended three days after the wedding – Man narrates

30 Jan

A man has been left heartbroken after his marriage came to an end just three days after saying his vows at the altar. He explained how he proposed in June 2017 and wanted the wedding to take place one year later – but much to his surprise her family insisted on a January wedding.

Excited for his ‘new life’ with his wife, he started counting down the days until she’d walk down the altar to him on a white dress. But in November that year, he noticed a shift in her behaviour. On Reddit, he said: “I notice her being secretive with her phone. Found her flirting with another man. Ok, I thought. No big deal. She’s probably just nervous about the wedding coming up.

“Told her to stop and hoped we could just move on. Come December, it was practically unbearable to be around her. Everything I was doing wrong and there was absolutely no way to please her anymore. Found out they were seeing each other while I was at work on the weekends…”

They decided to take a break in December so she could “figure things out” before their wedding in just four weeks’ time. “I thought she would take time to think about it but I found out that she was seeing the guy every day during the one week break and having sex with him,” he added.

“At this point I just broke down and started crying, told her I’d forgive her if she still wanted to go through with the wedding if she was still willing to go through with it too. She agreed to stop seeing him and marry me but she said she wanted to see him just one last time to tell him.”

But rather than break things off with the other man, he later learnt she went axe throwing with him before having a sit-down dinner together. He said: “We left for the wedding the very next day after that and basically she told me not to ask her any questions about anything that happened during the break. After about three weeks in her home city we got married. Flew back to our home city and three days later she texted me while I was at work -‘Sorry but I’m not coming home to sleep this weekend’.

“She basically went right back to screwing that guy. Long story short, I gave her two to three more chances (she kept running back to me when things weren’t going her way with the new guy) and eventually found them screwing each other when she wouldn’t answer my phone calls one evening. I just knew they were doing it so I walked in her apartment (they left the doors unlocked) and caught them in the act.”

He says he has never spoken to her since – but has been left with deep emotional scars from the entire experience. He said: “I think I just needed to see that to truly get over it. We were officially over after three weeks but basically the marriage died after just three days.” While some users shared their sympathies, others claim it’s ‘his own fault’ because he ignored all of her red flags ahead of the wedding.

One user said: “Damn. I’m sorry about all of this. I hope that you’re well and getting better.” Another user added: ” You should have postponed the wedding in the first place, but I understand the feelings you’ve had.” A third user said: “I’m sorry you’ve received such unpleasant comments after sharing this. I feel for you, and I’m happy you got out, even if it was after you made the mistake of marrying her. For some people, that wedding would have made the psychological bondage ‘unbreakable’, but you still got out. I hope you do find all those things you’re striving for: the house, the marriage, the family. That’s my dream too.”
