In a major breakthrough, the police in Ghana have arrested the most wanted suspect involved in the brutal killing of a Volta Region businessman.
The suspect, identified as Kwame Dziwornu, was apprehended in Kpando, a town in the Volta Region, where he had been hiding since the murder.
The victim, Eugene Akwasi Ofori, a well-known businessman in the region, was killed in a shocking attack.
According to police reports, Dziwornu used bloody tools to carry out the gruesome act.
The murder, which occurred in early December 2024, sent shockwaves through the local community, as Ofori was well-respected in the area.
Speaking about the arrest, Police Spokesperson DSP Grace Ansah shared more details of the investigation. She revealed that Kwame Dziwornu, after committing the murder, fled to Kpando to evade capture.
“We received a tip-off from a concerned citizen who noticed suspicious activity in the area, which led to the suspect’s arrest,” DSP Ansah said.
During questioning, Dziwornu confessed to the crime. He explained that the murder was premeditated after an ongoing business dispute with Eugene Akwasi Ofori.
Dziwornu stated, “We had a disagreement over a business deal that had gone wrong. I became angry and decided to take matters into my own hands.” The suspect further revealed that he used sharp tools to strike the victim, leading to Ofori’s death.
The arrest has brought a sense of relief to Ofori’s family and the entire community. The police have assured the public that Dziwornu will face the full force of the law for his actions.
“We are committed to ensuring justice for Eugene Akwasi Ofori and his family,” DSP Ansah added.
Kwame Dziwornu’s capture marks the end of a tense manhunt that had been ongoing for several weeks.
