Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, has put an end to speculation surrounding Thomas Partey’s future at the club, firmly affirming his desire to retain the Ghanaian midfielder for the upcoming season.

Speaking at a press conference ahead of their preseason game against Manchester United, Arteta emphasized the significance of Thomas Partey to the team, describing him as a “super important” player that he wants to keep.

When questioned about Partey’s role in his plans for the 2023/24 season, Arteta responded unequivocally, stating, “Yes [he will stay] – Thomas Partey is a super-important player for us and for me and we want him to be in the team, that’s for sure,” the manager said in New Jersey during Arsenal’s tour of the US.

Rumors had circulated suggesting that the arrival of Declan Rice from West Ham might lead to Partey’s departure, but Arteta dispelled such notions, asserting that both players can coexist and contribute to the team’s success.

“Yeah. They can play together. That was in my plans. If you want to improve the squad you need players that can improve the squad and players that can play together.”

Thomas Partey missed the initial Arsenal squad’s trip to the USA for preseason due to injury but has since joined the team, ready to play a key role in the upcoming season.
