Media not holding NPP to strict proof as they did to NDC – Joseph Yammin

01 Nov

National Organizer of the National Democratic Congress(NDC) Dr. Joseph Yammin has alleged that the media especially in the Ashanti Region have pampered the government of the day and not holding them accountable for the ills in the region.

The former Dputy Ashanti Regional Minister under erstwhile John Mahama administration notes that, most influential media practitioners have now made the studios their main stay without hitting the grounds to verify and scrutinize the government on failed projects and promises.

He was speaking on Ultimate 106.9 FM, a morning show hosted by Julius Caesar Anadem on the laid back role of the media in the region.

“I am surprised of the attitude of media houses in Ashanti Region, I remember in 2016 some of them will pick the green book, which had finished and unfinished projects, the unfinished projects they put the artistic impression there, but your people (media) will go there and say they can’t find the project, why are they not doing that today?” he questioned.

“Why is the media now comfortable in the studios and not going out to verify and getting people to understand what’s going on” he said.

Mr. Yamin notes a general lackadaisical attitude of the media towards the Nana Addo administration but the media in the Ashanti Region are the worst culprit of pampering the government of the day.

“The Ashanti media are the worse culprit in letting the NPP off the hook, the attitude, the kind of media work the media did in 2016, I am not sure anybody in the NPP will be comfortable to say they want to lead the NPP in breaking the 8”

“This has made the NPP take the region for granted and have relaxed saying no matter what the people of Ashanti will vote for us. There needs to be a certain sense of anger by the people themselves too”

“What the media in Ashanti is not doing by exposing the rot happening around, we in the NDC will do that for them. We are ready and will to do that for them because we know they fear the current regime”, he assured.
