Lawyer Maurice Ampaw has expressed his disappointment with President Akufo-Addo’s decision to appoint Kissi Agyebeng as the Special Prosecutor, arguing that Agyebeng did not have a proven track record of loyalty and dedication to the New Patriotic Party (NPP). He believes that this appointment was unjustified and bypassed loyal party members.
Ampaw revealed that he had faced Agyebeng in three court cases, winning all of them. He emphasized his own loyalty to the NPP and his commitment to protecting the constitution, stating, “When it comes to party loyalty and protecting the constitution and the NPP party, I am ahead of him in terms of my dedication and service.”

Ampaw criticized Gabby Okyere Darko and Kwaku Baako for supporting Agyebeng’s appointment. He warned that “the consequences of your actions will be felt by the party,” as Agyebeng’s appointment has ultimately worked against the NPP’s interests. He cautioned that the lesson to be learned is to avoid appointing individuals who may become adversaries to the party.
In conclusion, Ampaw questioned Agyebeng’s effectiveness as Special Prosecutor, stating, “Since Kissi Agyebeng took over, it is surprising that he has not pursued any significant prosecutions against opposing parties. Instead, he has seemingly become an adversary to the NPP.”
