Former Special Prosecutor Martin Amidu has come forward to defend his integrity against recent accusations labelling him as a “coward and a liar.” In a detailed statement, Amidu emphasized his unwavering commitment to fighting corruption and refuted claims made by his critics, including remarks by Blakk Rasta and Krofi Atto. “I am not a coward or a liar,” Amidu stated emphatically.
He defended his tenure as Special Prosecutor, during which he conducted a comprehensive corruption risk assessment. “A coward would not have had the courage to conduct the corruption risk assessment I undertook,” he said.
Amidu also addressed comments made by Blakk Rasta, who accused him of failing to deliver on promises regarding the Airbus scandal. “Spreading fake news and insults does not help enlightened discourse,” Amidu remarked, challenging his detractors to engage with his work substantively rather than through baseless accusations.
Furthermore, on June 10, 2024, during the 32nd anniversary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Kofi Attor, Chairman of the event’s planning committee, labelled Amidu a liar. “Mr. Kofi Attor was nowhere near the room when we founded the NDC in 1992,” Amidu countered, discrediting Attor’s allegations.
Amidu likened his strategic approach to that of Otto von Bismarck, the German Chancellor known for his tactical decisions that consolidated Germany’s unification. “It takes scholarship and a sharp mind to understand that Otto von Bismarck’s so-called cowardice was a form of ingenuity,” Amidu explained, framing his actions within a broader historical context.
