Chelsea and Manchester United could find themselves going head-to-head for one Premier League player’s signature next year.

At present, left-back does not seem to be an issue for ChelseaEnzo Maresca has Marc Cucurella and Renato Veiga as his main options for the position, while Ben Chilwell is still at the club.

Nevertheless, it looks like the Blues are still thinking about making a move for a new left-back.

It is a different story for United, who are having to watch Luke Shaw pick up injury after injury. They were actually linked with Chilwell during the summer, but it has since been reported that United never made an approach for Chilwell.

Having issues in the left-back position, it appears that United are targeting Fulham star Antonee Robinson.

According to GiveMeSport, the Red Devils are ready to beat Chelsea to Robinson’s signature, with their Premier League rivals also contemplating a move.

The same outlet claims that Fulham value him at £40m. This is not the first time that he has been linked to Chelsea.

In March, it was reported that Chelsea were seriously interested in signing Robinson for the new season, but nothing materialised in the end.

Chelsea probably have a better chance of landing Robinson if they go head-to-head with United for his signature.

They are doing so much better than Erik ten Hag’s side in the Premier League and look to be on the right track under Maresca.

Again, though, left-back is definitely not the weakest position in Chelsea’s squad. It would be a bit of a surprise if they decided to make a move for Robinson, especially if he is going to cost £40m.

With that in mind, Old Trafford just seems like a more likely destination than Stamford Bridge, given the problems that Ten Hag has in the left-back position.
