The president Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo says education is very vital in every individual life and is education that has made him what he is now. According to him in the last four years of the Mahama regime, statistics of the ministry of education about hundred thousand J.H.S. students could not make the transition from Junior High School (J.H.S.) to Senior High School (S.H.S.) not because they did not pass but because they couldn’t pay so they dropped out.
Speaking on Kessben Fm in Kumasi Tuesday 29th September with Omanhene Yaw Adu Boakye Nana Addo explained further that, the hundred thousand deficit of drop outs has been recovered. The enrolment in secondary school was around eight hundred thousand (800,000) but now is one hundred twenty million so it means that those hundred thousand that was thrown out into the public space are now inside the system getting education and that must have a strong impact on Ghana. Some will be coming out as I.T specialists, Accontants, etc. and he thinks is a very good initiative that has to be continued.
Nana chastised John Mahama about the way he spoke against free S.H.S. that it was a poor policy and if he had two billion cedis he will not use it to fund free education so what has now changed that he Mahama say when he comes into power he will extend it to private schools, and he sees it that is not genuine and sincere.
Comparing to the stand that N.D.C. took against National Health Insurance when it was introduced to parliament Mahama was part of those who walked out but subsequently when they saw that Ex-President Kuffuour had chalked success in the implementation of the N.H.I.S. then they came back and say they will introduced one time premium but for the past eight years they were in power they never said anything about it. In in 2015 and 2016 the N.H.I.S. card became invalid because it was not working and when one goes to the hospital that person has to pay and one way or the other cash and carry came through the back door.
Apart from that the president said the commitment of political leaders, what they believe in is something important that Ghanaians have to look out for in their political choice. Mahama opposed to the National Health Insurance Scheme and when he won power and came to meet it he dismantled it, and in the same way Mahama is opposing Free S.H.S. Now he has no doubt that if he wins power he will destroy the free S.H.S. policy that’s why he says Mahama is a flip flop. Watch full video below.
