The Ghana Police Service has said it is partnering the Ghana National Fire Service to investigate a fire outbreak that occurred at the Kwashieman Cluster of Schools where the Ablekuma North constituency ballot boxes are housed.

A devastating fire broke out early Tuesday morning, December 17, 2024, at the Kwashieman Cluster of Schools in the Greater Accra Region.

The fire destroyed parts of a two-storey building that houses the Kwashieman 2 Basic School, Kwashieman Anglican B JHS, Kwashieman Anglican A Primary, and 1 JHS.

The fire, which started around 1:40 a.m. in the school library where contested ballot boxes from the Ablekuma North constituency were being stored, has left significant damage to classrooms, the library, and the ICT laboratory.

TV3’s Godwin Asediba reports that the incident has disrupted teaching and learning for hundreds of students.

In a statement issued by the police Tuesday, December 17, it assured the public of getting perpetrators of the act and making them face the law.

“We wish to assure the public that any individual or group of individuals found
responsible for this incident will be arrested and brought to face justice. We urge the public to remain calm as investigation into the incident continues,” the police statement contained.
