Justice Kwaku Annan, a renowned journalist, has come to the defense of Kennedy Agyapong, a prominent member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), amidst recent infighting within the party. Annan’s comments were in response to attacks on Agyapong by some NPP members, which he believes are unjustified.
Annan questioned the motives behind these attacks, asking, “What crime has Kennedy Agyapong committed that warrants such treatment?” He emphasized that Agyapong is not solely responsible for the party’s loss, noting that a contract in question was awarded during the Kuffour era and it is therefore unfair to hold him solely accountable.
He warned those behind the attacks, stating, “If some of you NPP men have hired people to attack Kennedy Agyapong, you will certainly face the consequences when I get the opportunity to address this issue.” Annan condemned the practice of hiring presenters to discredit Agyapong, describing it as “nonsense.”
Annan also revealed that he had instructed Captain Smart to change the narrative surrounding Agyapong. Citing his credentials as a seasoned journalist, he declared, “For two decades now, no journalist can be compared to me when it comes to writing in newspapers and radio presentation. I will not stand idly by while others attempt to smear Agyapong’s reputation.”
His defense of Agyapong comes amidst rumors of infighting within the NPP. Despite being a vocal critic of some party members and sparking controversy in the past, Annan’s comments suggest that Agyapong remains a respected figure within the party whose contributions should not be overlooked or undervalued.
