In what appeared to be an officially sanctioned assignment, a group of armed security agents, in the early hours of Tuesday, 11 February 2025, raided former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta’s residence in Cantonments, Accra.

According to eyewitnesses, some 12 men, one in police uniform, four in military uniform, and the rest in civilian clothing, pounded the gate to the former minister’s house and pushed their way inside.
According to eyewitnesses, the people, who appeared to be men on official duty, ransacked the house after being informed that the former finance minister was on a medical trip abroad.
They showed no search or arrest warrant but forced their way into the property and allegedly ransacked the rooms. An eye witness, who is a lawyer, said they didn’t care when they were told the house owner and his wife were out of the country.
Mr Ofori-Atta left Ghana at the beginning of the year for scheduled medical check-up at the Mayor Clinic, Minnesota, according to a close family member.
