Italian football is preparing to welcome Timothy Weah, the son of the great George – who won the Ballon d’Or winner while at AC Milan.
Weah is about to sign a five-year agreement with Juventus. According to Sky Sport, the Old Lady has reached an agreement with both the player and Lille and the deal will be done soon.
The purchase of yet another young player shows Juventus’ willingness to invest in millennials in the hope that they can become the stars of a new cycle of success that will see a return to winning national and international trophies.
Weah Jnr has an outstanding physique, great physical stamina and a very high dribbling ability. The former Celtic man will soon become the second American player in the history of Juventus, fulfilling the dream of his father George, who has always been a black and white fan.
Lille will reportedly receive just over £10million from Juventus. Playing under Massimiliano Allegri and his staff will improve a potentially top player who could dominate the international scene in the coming years.
The injured Mattia de Sciglio, who will not return before 2024, and the farewell of Juan Cuadrado, whose contract expiring on 30 June will not be renewed, leaves Juventus short of right wingers, and Weah will probably start his career in Italy with more defensive role.
He is, however, a very different player to his father. Weah Jnr played 29 games for Lille last year, often used as a right-back in a four-man defence, just like Cuadrado.
