Having managed the likes of Chelsea, Inter Milan, Real Madrid and Manchester United during his career, it’s hard to think of another manager with a CV as impressive as Jose Mourinho’s.
The Special One has pretty much won everything there is to win in club football, and he’s coached legends like Cristiano Ronaldo, Frank Lampard, and Samuel Eto’o along the way.
However, despite everything he has achieved during his 24-year-long managerial career, there is one thing Mourinho regrets.
Mourinho has had to try and deal with Lionel Messi several times over the years, and while he coached the Argentine’s rival Ronaldo while at Real Madrid, he never got to call the eight-time Ballon d’Or winner as one of his own players.
When asked by influencer Ohm to pick out some superstars that he wished he’d worked with, the Portuguese tactician said: “For example, I never got to train Lionel Messi, but then nobody can train Messi.
“It is absurd to think you could coach him, because he was born with everything and already knows everything. He might teach you some things. All you could say is that you had the honour of having him in your squad.

“To stay in the Roma theme, I would’ve liked to have [Daniele] De Rossi at Inter and Real Madrid, but it was not possible. I also wanted [Francesco] Totti at Inter, despite his age at the time, but it was not possible either. These are players I always wanted in my career.”
Mourinho is currently out of a job following his departure from Serie A side Roma last month.
While he has ruled himself out of taking up a managerial role in Saudi Arabia any time soon, he is by no means ready to retire.

Should Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami decide to move on from head coach Gerardo ‘Tata’ Martino any time soon, then the perfect return to management could present itself.
