Former President John Mahama has fired a salvo at Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, dismissing his claims that Ghana needs an upgrade rather than a reset.
“I’ve said that Ghana needs a reset, but somebody says Ghana needs an upgrade,” Mahama said, his voice laced with incredulity. “How do you upgrade something that is broken? If the engine is spoilt, how do you upgrade it?”
Mahama’s words were met with applause from the crowd as he emphasized the need for a comprehensive reset. “We need to reset Ghana properly and set it in a condition where it can be upgraded,” he stressed.
The former President referenced his manifesto, which he said outlines the need for a reset in various aspects of Ghanaian society. “In my manifesto, I talked about Ghana needing a reset, our economy needs a reset, our governance needs a reset, our attitudes need a reset,” he said.
Mahama was scathing in his criticism of Bawumia’s upgrade proposal. “We don’t upgrade attitudes, we reset them. We don’t upgrade governance, we reset governance because our governance has gone astray,” he said.
Concluding his remarks, Mahama appealed to Ghanaians to join him in his quest for a reset. “I need you all to consider this as a labour of love and sacrifice,” he said, his voice filled with passion. “We can only do this together.”
The exchange between Mahama and Bawumia has set the stage for a heated debate on the direction Ghana should take in the upcoming elections. While Bawumia advocates for an upgrade, Mahama is adamant that a reset is the only way forward. Only time will tell who wins this argument.
