A suspected serial killer, Ogunnaike Philip, has admitted to killing three young women in order to steal their phones, which he later sold for money. He also posed as if the victims were still alive to demand ransom from their families.
Philip confessed to raping two of the women before killing one and sparing the fourth victim after stealing her phone. To evade capture, he used different identities in various locations, as he is a former prison inmate and serial killer.
According to The Nigerian Tribune, the 29-year-old suspect was arrested by the Ogun State Police Command for allegedly kidnapping, raping, robbing, and murdering his victims. His victims were identified as Dina Abigail (22), Ogunyemi Mary (23), and Akinsanya Abibat (18).
Despite the gravity of his crimes, Philip showed little fear of facing justice, acknowledging the possibility of execution. He hinted that, if given another chance in a future life, he would make better choices. Interestingly, he mentioned wanting a particular meal before his execution but has not yet revealed what it is.
Items recovered from Philip included an iPhone XR, iPhone 11, Infinix Hot 10, a Moniepoint POS machine, and two black ropes.
Recounting how he killed Abigail, Philip said, “It was Abigail. We met on a path, and I pretended to be a seer, convincing her that she had an aura that attracted men. She asked what to do, and I told her to follow me into the bush to collect some leaves. Once inside, I grabbed her neck and demanded that she unlock her phone with her password. I threatened to kill her if she refused.”
He continued, “She didn’t unlock it fully, so I took the phone and tied her hands with a rope. I killed her afterward. I went to Saki and swapped her phone with someone else. I murdered her near Itori about three or four months ago. One of her relatives called, and I demanded ransom, telling them to send money. They sent N50,000.”
