I’ll step down as NDC Youth Organiser if… – Opare Addo

26 Feb

The Minister of Youth Development and Empowerment, George Opare Addo, has stated that he is willing to resign from his position as the National Youth Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) if President John Mahama requests it.

Opare Addo, popularly known as Pablo, acknowledged that he is not the first party officer to hold a ministerial position while serving in a party role.

“Any day the President decides that I should resign, I will. I’m not the first national officer to be appointed as a minister. When Hon. Haruna Iddrisu served as Communication Minister, he remained the National Youth Organiser until we held Congress in Tamale and elected a new person in his place,” he said in an interview on Citi FM.

Despite his willingness to step down if required, Opare Addo expressed confidence in his ability to manage both roles effectively.

“I believe I am capable. If it ever becomes too much for me, I will step down, but for now, I can handle it,” he added.

Meanwhile, in his ministerial role, he reaffirmed his commitment to advancing youth development initiatives while continuing to serve in the NDC.

Opare Addo was first elected as the NDC’s Youth Organiser in 2019 and retained his position in 2022.
