Popular broadcaster and former host of Angel FM’s morning show, Okatakyie Afrifa, has made serious allegations against the Acting CEO of the Precious Minerals Marketing Company (PMMC), Sammy Gyamfi, and businessman Ibrahim Mahama.
Speaking on his evening show on YouTube on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, Okatakyie Afrifa claimed that Sammy Gyamfi’s appointment as the Acting CEO of PMMC was not by accident. He alleged that Sammy Gyamfi has a close relationship with Ibrahim Mahama, who seem to have business interests in Ghana’s mineral exports.
Afrifa further alleged that Sammy Gyamfi is planning to establish the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod), which will take charge of buying all gold mined in the country. According to him, this move will eventually allow a small group of people to control the country’s gold resources. He warned that if care is not taken, Ghana’s gold wealth will soon become the property of a few individuals instead of benefiting the entire nation.
Additionally, Okatakyie Afrifa alleged that a lawyer linked to Ibrahim Mahama has been appointed as the head of Ghana’s aluminum sector. He suggested that this is part of a bigger plan by Ibrahim Mahama to gain control over Ghana’s natural resources for his own business interests.
This comes after Sammy Gyamfi was appointed as the Acting CEO of PMMC by President John Mahama on January 16, 2025. His main task is to oversee the establishment of the Ghana Gold Board, which is expected to regulate the small-scale mining sector and boost the country’s mineral revenue.
Okatakyie Afrifa’s claims have sparked public discussions, with some people demanding transparency in the management of Ghana’s natural resources. However, neither Sammy Gyamfi nor Ibrahim Mahama has responded to these allegations.
