President-elect John Dramani Mahama has cautioned potential appointees in his incoming administration to brace themselves for hard work and humility, emphasizing that government service will not be an easy ride.
According to a report by Graphic Online on Sunday, December 15, 2024, speaking at a thanksgiving service held at the Ringway Gospel Assemblies of God Church in Osu, Accra, Mahama reflected on his victory in the December 7, 2024, elections and laid out his expectations for the path ahead.
“And so, just as our colleagues in the NPP might be feeling very pained by their loss, it should serve as a lesson to those of us coming into government that the same stick that Takyi has been beaten with, Ghanaian people are reserving it for Baah,” Mahama remarked.
The president-elect extended his gratitude to Ghanaians for their support but urged humility and diligence from those lobbying for government positions.
He addressed the intense lobbying he has experienced since his victory, saying, “I’ve been receiving knocks on my door, receiving text messages, people who are considering themselves for various positions, and I just want to warn them it’s not going to be a walk in the park.”
Mahama highlighted the need for appointees to serve the public with integrity and warned against complacency.
“This is not a time for self-serving ambitions or entitlement.
We are here to serve the people of Ghana, and those who fail to meet this standard will not have a place in my administration,” he said.
The thanksgiving service, attended by members of the Assemblies of God Church and several dignitaries, marked a moment of reflection and commitment as Mahama prepares to lead Ghana once again.
