Black Stars Hat-trick hero Jordan Ayew has revealed he has been mostly played out of position in national and club sides and prefers to play as a number 9.

The Crystal Palace forward stole who has played mostly as a winger was the toast of the fans in Kumasi on Monday night as the Black Stars defeated the Central African Republic in an exciting World cup qualifying game.

Jordan Ayew scored his second hat-trick for the Black Stars in the 4-3 win over a stubborn Central African Republic side at the Baba Yara Stadium on match day four of the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers.

Speaking in a post-match presser, Jordan Ayew talked about the sacrifices he has made over the years for the national team.

“I’ve been playing out of position for quite some time in the national team and also at the club level. But I have always done my duty, put my country first, and never complained because I always give my all,” he stated.

Jordan Ayew then revealed his favourite position on the field is a striker in the number 9 role, “It’s difficult to say, It’s not something that I like to talk about but obviously my favourite position right from when I began playing in France, and in the national team has always been as a number 9.”

But I understand because I have qualities that allow me to play in the pockets of spaces, and I don’t complain.”

Jordan Ayew has scored four goals in the Qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, and his three goals propelled Ghana to the summit of the group on nine points.
