Former Health Minister Dr. Okoe Boye has reacted to a viral video accusing him of theft. In a statement signed by Samuel Kofi Yaboah, his Special Aide, Okoe Boye has described the speculations as false, urging the public to disregard them.
The statement noted that a group led by Kabu Saint Emmanuel and Joseph Tetteh, pro-NDC assemblymen, stormed his private facility under the false pretence of having Operation Recover All Loot ( ORAL) authorisation, disclosing that group made away with his personal properties like clothes, furniture, oil, boxers of books, and motorbike, among others.
The statement further disclosed that the Ghana Police Service was prompted and came to the scene, but the perpetrators carried out their actions unabated. The police, according to the release, have begun investigations into the matter.
The Former MP for Ledzokuku Constituency in the Greater Accra Region served as a Deputy Health Minister and was subsequently sworn in on 21 April 2020. He however lost the Ledzokuku parliamentary seat in the 2020 Ghanaian general election to Benjamin Narteh Ayiku of the NDC. On 21 April 2022, he was appointed the CEO of the National Health Insurance Agency overseeing the National Health Insurance Scheme.
His camp insists that Dr Okoe Boye will continue to serve the country with integrity, transparency, and an unwavering commitment to public service.
“Our attention has been drawn to a trending TikTok video falsely accusing Dr. Okoe Boye of theft. These allegations are entirely false, baseless, and aimed at misleading the public.”
“We urge the public to disregard these unfounded allegations and remain assured that the Ghana Police Service is actively investigating the matter to ensure justice is served,” the statement reads.
