One of the vehicles in the convoy of Ghana’s President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has reportedly crashed. According to a report by Accra-based UTV, the vehicle collided with a KIA Rhino truck at Bunso Junction in the Eastern Region.
The media house, in a post shared on Sunday, May 19, 2024, stated that one person died in the collision, with others sustaining serious injuries. “President Akufo-Addo’s convoy has been allegedly involved in a tragic accident at Bunso Junction, Eastern Region. “According to reports, the convoy was crossed by a KIA Rhino truck, resulting in a collision that claimed the life of one individual and left others seriously injured,” part of the post UTV shared, reads.
Even though no indication was given as to whether the person who died or those who were seriously injured were the occupants of the vehicle from the president’s convoy, a video from the scene of the incident showed it completely damaged.
The vehicle, a Toyota Land Cruiser, was unrecognizable. What looks like blood stains could be seen on some parts of the vehicle and the ground. The KIA truck could also be seen on the other side of the road. “Ooh my goodness, I don’t even know what to say, Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ!” one man could be heard saying. Another man could also be heard wondering why the driver of the vehicle was trying to overtake the cars before him. The Office of the President has not commented on the incident yet.
