The controversial Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the disbanded gold dealership business, Menzgold, claimed that he placed GHC5,000,000 with them for later payment to his clients, but the Ghana Police Service has refuted that claim.
In a statement, Nana Appiah Mensah, also known as NAM 1, said that the GHC5,000,000 will be distributed to clients of the former firm.
The Company previously said that it will start paying out on matured investments starting on Friday, October 20, 2023.
Part of a statement from the Ghana Police Service that clarifies how much money was actually received “The Police, on the advice of the Office of the Attorney-General, on Friday 20th October 2023, received an amount of GH₵2.5 Million from suspect Nana Appiah Mensah, popularly known as Nam 1.
The aforementioned sum has been put in the Bank of Ghana (BoG) Police Exhibit account for the Court’s consideration.
The sum is related to inquiries into petitions filed by some MenzGold Ghana Company Limited and Brew Marketing Consult Limited clients against Nam 1 suspect Nana Appiah Mensah before the Accra High Court.
We would like to make it clear that the court would make the judgment about the distribution of the funds.
