The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced the appointment of German coach Winfried Anton Schafer as the new Technical Advisor for the Black Stars. This pivotal decision comes in the wake of a thorough evaluation of the team’s performance during the previous Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
Schafer, who boasts an impressive resume, previously led Cameroon to victory in the AFCON tournament in 2002. In his new role, he will work closely alongside Black Stars Head Coach Otto Addo, aiming to build a stronger squad for upcoming challenges.
In addition to his advisory role, Schafer has taken on the position of Director of Football for the GFA, where he will oversee key strategic planning and development initiatives. His extensive experience of over four decades includes coaching various national teams and notable European clubs, showcasing his ability in the world of football.
