Ghana’s newly elected President, John Dramani Mahama, received a special message of congratulations from Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, following his victory in the country’s presidential elections.

After a highly competitive race, which included a strong challenge from Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Mahama emerged as the victor, securing the presidency without the need for a runoff. His win has sparked widespread celebrations across Ghana, and President Putin’s letter added an international diplomatic dimension to the momentous occasion.

In his message, President Putin warmly congratulated Mahama on his election, emphasizing the longstanding friendship between Russia and Ghana.
