Former Black Stars player Samuel Inkoom pleads with court to refund US$8,000 to complainants
Former Black Stars player, Samuel Inkoom accused of a Dubai-based Ghanaian man and his fiancée of US$8,000, has pleaded with the Kwabenya Circuit Court to give him up to October 31, to pay the money.
Inkoom, who was charged for defrauding by false pretences, told the court that he has put up his properties for sale to enable him refund the money by October 31, 2024.
The court, presided over by Ms Mavis Bedjrah, granted the request of Inkoom, who first appeared before court on July 23, this year.
Chief Inspector Gershon Togo Achondo told the court that the complainants, Doris Dankwa and her fiancé, Seth Osei Addai, used to live in Dubai while Inkoom, a footballer, was living in Accra.
The prosecution said the complainants wanted to relocate to the United States of America (USA).
Chief Insp Achondo noted that the complainants contacted the accused to help them travel to the USA.
The court heard that Inkoom told the complainants that he has a company that could facilitate their travel to the USA.
Chief Insp Achondo said the accused asked the complainants to pay US$4,000 each, which they did through John Dadzie, the father of Doris Dankwa.
The prosecution disclosed that Dadzie handed over US$8,000 to Inkoom, being money from complainants, at the Atlantic Towers, Airport in Accra.
