Foase chief boldy tell Nana Akuffo Addo hard truth in the face

A chief in the Ashanti region has told President Nana Akufo-Addo that, he and his people have yet to see any development in their locality to compensate for the unwavering support for his ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) over the years.

He says it is unbecoming of the government to neglect its most loyal constituents but choose to send development to areas where it hardly gets votes; “I think you should attend to us who vote for you first”, he said at a public gathering on Thursday. Otumfour Brempong Nana Frimpong Appiah Ampem II in welcoming the President to a durbar of chiefs and people of Atwima Kwanwoma on day two of his just-ended four-day tour of the Ashanti region, practically recounted the number of votes he got in the constituency in the last election to him.

“Atwima Kwanwoma gave NPP 45,000 votes representing 86.2% of total valid votes; we gave the NDC only 6000. This clearly shows that Atwima Kwanwoma is for the NPP; but if it is so, then why should our roads be so deplorable; why”, he queried the President.

Flanked by other chiefs and palace subjects in their full regalia and thousands of townsfolk to applaud him, the chief furthered that, “if we have voted to bring you to power, then you must cater to our needs first before considering those who didn’t vote for you; because we are the reason you won the election”.

He hinted that, parents have started withdrawing their wards from the Afia Kobi Ampem Senior High School at Trabuom due to the poor nature of the road that leads to the town.

“Atwima Kwanwoma is very large; I’m sure that, over 120,000 out of the 126,000 on the voters register will vote for the NPP; but what will be the use of our numbers when we don’t have even nursing or teaching training college here; we are pleading with the President; I have personally allocated 40 acres of land, he should build a training college for us”, Foasehene said.
