The credibility and capacity of the flagbearer of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) to fight corruption and corruption related crimes, has been questioned by Daniel Domelevo, Ghana’s former Auditor-General.

According to Mr. Domelevo, Dr. Bawumia’s inability to disclose the source of the money he used for the Presidential primaries leaves much to be desired of as someone requesting to be voted for as President.

In an interview with Joy News’ Raymond Acquah, Mr. Domelevo called out Dr Bawumia to show to the general public his deep-rooted commitment to fighting the canker of corruption by disclosing the source of the substantial amount he used for his Presidential primaries.

Mr. Domelevo said, “The track record that he wants us to look at, can he tell us that about 80 million Ghana cedis which was used for the primaries. Can he tell us where it came from? He should have made that known to us, that as a Vice President, he doesn’t even get 50,000 cedis a month. So for eight years, he would not make more than 10 million. He should have told us that apart from my salary, I have these sources, my father left these, and I have investments which brought about the eighty-something million which I used for my party funding. We would have clapped for him.”

The fight against corruption has been the topical issues Ghanaians look forward to hearing from the various Presidential candidates.

The call from Mr. Domelevo has been one of the many calls from many Ghanaians who are demanding the source of funds that some public officials disburse in pursuit of their political aspirations.
