Domelevo Uncovers Truth Behind Mahama’s Hajj Village Project

05 Mar

Former Auditor-General Daniel Yao Domelevo has criticized the Mahama administration over what he describes as a wasteful expenditure on the Hajj Village project. Speaking at a public forum, Domelevo expressed shock at the mismanagement of funds allocated for the facility, which was intended to serve Ghanaian Muslim pilgrims.

According to him, the project, which was meant to provide a decent transit point for Hajj travelers, failed to deliver value for money. He pointed out that despite huge sums being spent, the facility remains underutilized and poorly maintained.

Domelevo accused the previous government of prioritizing political gains over prudent financial management, leading to questionable procurement processes and inflated costs. He stressed that such wasteful spending contributed to Ghana’s economic challenges, urging the current administration to conduct a thorough audit and hold those responsible accountable.

He further called for stricter financial oversight to prevent future mismanagement of public funds. The revelation has sparked debate, with critics demanding a full disclosure of the project’s financial details.
